Resaca de la Palma State Park

As part of the World Birding Center, Brownsville’s Resaca de la Palma boasts the largest tract of native habitat in the World Birding Center network. Etched by ancient curves of the Rio Grande, its 1,200 semi-tropical acres attracts visitors from all over the world.

Throughout 2023, we are raising money for much-needed projects at all Texas State Parks. Give back today and help us grant Resaca de la Palma State Park’s centennial wish.

Resaca de la Palma State Park’s Centennial Wish:

Make the Night Sky Come Alive

Resaca de la Palma has partnered with the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley to provide a telescope for the park, and as a result, night sky viewing has become a tremendous draw for visitors. To build on that partnership, park staff would like to add a planetarium to support the already robust night sky, field trip, and outreach programs here.

With your support, the planetarium will make these programs more available to underserved youth and families who can’t come out at night and add to the experience of those who can.

Fundraising goal: $36,000

Give Back to Resaca de la Palma State Park
Once the initial priority project has been funded, any dollars raised beyond the needs of the park’s priority project will remain with Resaca de la Palma State Park for future funding needs.
