Ray Roberts Lake State Park – Johnson Branch

Set amid a mixed forest and prairie environment, visitors can escape the bustle of the city and get back to nature just an hour north of the DFW Metroplex. The Johnson Branch is one of nine units making up Ray Roberts Lake State Park and offers trails, fishing and more.

Throughout 2023, we are raising money for much-needed projects at all Texas State Parks. Give back today and help us grant Ray Roberts Lake State Park’s centennial wish for the park’s Johnson Branch.

Ray Roberts Lake State Park – Johnson Branch’s Centennial Wish:

Enjoying the Colors of Nature

Each fall, the trails and roadways of Ray Roberts Lake SP become awash with color. Little bluestem turns a rusty red, and trees like oaks and cottonwoods fill out the landscape with reds and yellows. But some visitors can’t see this vibrant landscape because they are colorblind.

There is new lens technology available that allows people with color blindness to see the full color spectrum. With your support, the park will provide this technology through scopes with a special lens package that will give colorblind visitors the opportunity to experience the beauty of nature as never before.

These scopes will seamlessly serve visitors with and without visual impairments, enabling all to enjoy spectacular fall foliage.

Fundraising goal: $8,000
