Lake Somerville State Park & Trailway
Fishing, camping, mountain biking, horseback riding, birding, hiking, paddling – whatever your outdoor passion, you can pursue it here on the lakeshore. With the Birch Creek Unit on the north side of the lake, and the Nails Creek Unit on the southwest side, visitors also enjoy exploring the 13-mile trailway that connects the two.
Throughout 2023, we are raising money for much-needed projects at all Texas State Parks. Give back today and help us grant Lake Somerville State Park’s centennial wish.
Lake Somerville State Park & Trailway’s Centennial Wish:
A New Floating Dock for Boaters & Paddlers
Many Lake Somerville visitors come to the park to access the lake for boating, fishing and paddling.
There is a boat ramp at Nails Creek, but the current means of landing boats is limited to beaching them on the shoreline. That can be inconvenient for visitors and also increases shoreline erosion.
Park staff would like to solve both problems with the installation of a floating courtesy dock.
With your support, and this new courtesy dock, accessing the lake will be a breeze!
Fundraising goal: $20,000
Once the initial priority project has been funded, any dollars raised beyond the needs of the park’s priority project will remain with Lake Somerville State Park & Trailway for future funding needs.
