Government Canyon State Natural Area’s Centennial Wish:

Binoculars & Scopes for Birding and More

Government Canyon State Natural Area’s 12,000 acres of canyons, creeks, and cliffs make for excellent bird habitat, and more than 200 species of birds have been spotted here. Government Canyon is the perfect place for beginners and experts alike to learn more about birds, including endangered golden-cheeked warblers.

Park staff hope to provide binoculars and spotting scopes during programs for visitors who want to explore birding. The park would also like to expand dark sky programming, as binoculars are useful to introduce visitors to the night sky. Funds raised will also support the purchase of a telescope with a solar filter.

With your help, visitors will be able to better see and appreciate Government Canyon by both day and night.

Fundraising goal: $6,000
