Visitors seeking refuge come to the island to stroll the beach, splash in the waves, fish, kayak, or spot coastal birds. No matter what brings you here, you’ll find respite and recreation at Galveston Island State Park. Just an hour from Houston, but an island apart.
Throughout 2023, we are raising money for exciting projects at all Texas State Parks. Give back today and help us grant Galveston Island State Park’s centennial wish.
Galveston Island State Park’s Centennial Wish:
Enhancing the Fish Cleaning Station
Galveston Island State Park is a great place to fish for experienced and novice anglers alike. Kayak launches, shoreline areas, beach access, boardwalks and great wade fishing opportunities make this a popular fishing destination.
The fish cleaning station is a welcome amenity, and a few enhancements can make it even better. With your help, park staff will update the facility and provide some additional features.
Improvements will include new durable roofing, needed pump replacement, and motion lighting to provide night lighting without excessive light pollution. Adding a rinse-off area will allow anglers to rinse off equipment with fresh water to keep sand and salt from damaging their gear.
Fundraising goal: $15,000
Once the initial priority project has been funded, any dollars raised beyond the needs of the park’s priority project will remain with Galveston Island State Park for future funding needs.
