Fort Richardson State Park, Historic Site & Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway
Soldiers at Fort Richardson once protected settlers along the Texas frontier. Today, visitors young and old come to retrace the footsteps of those soldiers and learn about the historic fort. Visitors can also camp and explore the countryside on foot, bike or horseback using the Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway.
Throughout 2023, we are raising money for exciting projects at all Texas State Parks. Give back today and help us grant Fort Richardson State Park’s centennial wish.

Rest Stops on the Trail
While Fort Richardson State Park and Historic Site is known for the historic structures that offer a glimpse into our frontier past, the park also abuts the scenic Lost Creek Reservoir Trailway.
The 9-mile trailway winds along scenic Lost Creek and the shores of Lost Creek Reservoir and Lake Jacksboro. It’s a long hike or bike ride, and with your help, park staff will enhance ten rest stations along the way.
This project will include replacing aging wooden benches with new metal benches, creating restful stops that will serve visitors for years to come.
Fundraising goal: $10,000
Once the initial priority project has been funded, any dollars raised beyond the needs of the park’s priority project will remain with Fort Richardson State Park, Historic Site & Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway for future funding needs.
