Fort Parker State Park
On the banks of the Navasota River, past and present collide. Two ecosystems meet here, too, and visitors love to explore the area on foot, bike or kayak. Wildflowers attract flower lovers in spring, while birding is popular year-round. Blue herons, bald eagles, white pelicans, and more call Fort Parker home.
Throughout 2023, we are raising money for exciting projects at all Texas State Parks. Give back today and help us grant Fort Parker State Park’s centennial wish.
Fort Parker State Park’s Centennial Wish:
Access for All
Fort Parker State Park is rich in aquatic and riparian wildlife. Great blue herons stalk the shoreline, pelicans flock on the lake in winter, and turtles sunbathe on logs.
Paddling on the lake and the Navasota River is a very popular activity at the park, and a great way to view wildlife. However, there is no kayak launch in the beach area, and it can be difficult for some visitors to get in and out of a kayak safely.
With your support, an ADA-accessible kayak launch will be installed to ensure more people will have the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful experience.
Fundraising goal: $20,000
Once the initial priority project has been funded, any dollars raised beyond the needs of the park’s priority project will remain with Fort Parker State Park for future funding needs.
