Fort Boggy State Park

On the edge of East Texas lies a tranquil patchwork of woods, fields and water. Park goers can explore the park’s trails, primitive campsites, cabins and a 15-acre lake. Fort Boggy State Park is halfway between Houston and Dallas along I-45.

Throughout 2023, we are raising money for exciting projects at all Texas State Parks. Give back today and help us grant Fort Boggy State Park’s centennial wish.

Fort Boggy State Park’s Centennial Wish:

Storied Hikes for Years to Come

Fort Boggy park staff want to pioneer a new “storywalk” concept for Texas State Parks that is gaining in popularity in other parts of the country.

With your assistance, park staff will install ten storyboards on park trails to enhance family hiking trips at the park with ever-changing learning experiences.

Pages from children’s books will be mounted in sequence on a series of professionally fabricated exhibit bases. As hikers of all ages progress along the trail, the story is gradually revealed, adding an element of literary engagement to an already enjoyable family activity.

These storyboard bases can also be moved throughout the park and repurposed with new stories, encouraging families to hike and read together for years to come.

Fundraising goal: $5,000
